Canada - Joint Task Force 2

Israel - Sayeret Matkal

Australia - Extant - Australian Special Air Service Regiment.

Belgium - Extant - Belgian Special Forces Group, closely modelled on the SAS and consisting of Land, Air and Boat sections. Comprises about 120 operational personnel distinguished by the maroon beret with the Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol insignia.

Defunct - During WWII 5 (Belgian) SAS squadron, from 1944 '5 SAS' Regiment, consisted of Belgian volunteers. Notable as the first Allied troops to enter Belgium and the first to cross the Siegfried line, into Germany. Traditions are currently continued by 1 PARA of the Paracommando Brigade.

Canada - Extant - The Canadian Military's Joint Task Force 2 is closely modelled on the SAS. (Although it traces its lineage to the Canadian SAS Company created in 1946, its structure is not generally known.)

Defunct - An SAS Company was created in 1946 and disbanded in 1948.[2]

Denmark - Frømandskorpset (Naval Special Forces) and Jægerkorpset (Army Special Forces).

France - The 1st Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment (1er Régiment Parachutiste d'Infanterie de Marine) (1er RPIMa:SAS), is the heir of the World War II French SAS units ('French' Squadron, 1 SAS from 1er Compagnie, BIA; 3 and 4 SAS, ie, 3 BIA and 4 BIA, subsequently 3 RCP and 2 RCP). Its official motto is "qui ose gagne", the French translation of "Who Dares Wins". The Regiment's operators are also nicknamed "les SAS français" (the French SAS). Recently, the Regiment created a Squadron (3rd Company) Patrouilles SAS or "PATSAS" (SAS Patrols), using heavily-armed jeeps for raids behind enemy lines (particularly with 22 SAS and the Australian SAS in Afghanistan).

Germany - The German Army Special Forces unit, the KSK (Kommando Spezialkräfte), is also closely patterned on the SAS.

Greece - Greek Special Forces, originate from the post-war ?.?.?. (spelled L.O.K. from "Loxoi Oreinon Katadromon" - Mountain Raider Detachments) which were the post-WWII successor of the "Sacred Band" ("Ieros Loxos"). The "Sacred Band" was formed in 1942 in the Middle East from a group of dedicated volunteers, former officers and officer cadets who relinquished their rank and commission in order to fight as regular soldiers. Under their C.O. - Col. Christodoulos Tsigantes, they fought alongside the SAS and SBS in the Libyan desert and the Aegean as well as with General Leclerc's Free French in Tunisia. It is no coincidence that modern Greek Special Forces insignia, bears a distinct resemblance to their brethren SAS insignia, with a winged, upward pointing sword and underscribed motto "? ?????? ????" (essentially translation of "Who Dares Wins").

Hong Kong - The Hong Kong Special Duties Unit is a part of the Hong Kong Police Force and was formed in 1973. SDU was modelled on the SAS and was trained by the SAS and SBS.

Indonesia - Detasemen Bravo Paskhas TNI AU.

Israel - The Sayeret Matkal, an elite unit of the IDF, is modelled on the SAS, and shares the same motto, "Who Dares Wins." Responsible for Operation Entebbe. Also Sayeret Shaldag.

Italy - The Army's 9th Parachute Assault Regiment, and the Carabinieri's Gruppo di Intervento Speciale are partly based on the SAS.

Japan - The National Police Agency's Special Assault Team received training from British SAS operators prior to its activation on 1 April 1996.

Malaysia - The Malaysian VAT 69/UTK is a special forces of the Royal Malaysian Police Force based on by the SAS. VAT 69 modelled on and trained by the British SAS in 1969 for fighting the communist insurgency and Special Actions Unit (Unit Tindakan Khas) was based from the SAS and increased on by the United States SWAT after hostage incident by JRA Terrorist in August 1975. On 20 October 1997, VAT 69 and UTK merged and was then called Pasukan Gerakan Khas (Special Operations Force).

Netherlands - The Korps Commandotroepen.

New Zealand - Special Air Service of New Zealand.

Norway - Forsvarets Spesialkommando (FSK).

Pakistan - The SSG commandos are also partly based on the SAS.

Philippines - The Philippine National Police's (PNP) Special Action Force was believed to have been based on the lines of the British SAS.

Poland - GROM, partly based on the SAS.

Rhodesia - 'C' Squadron 22 SAS was composed of Rhodesian troops. It formed the nucleus of the Rhodesian SAS Regiment after the end of the Malayan Emergency in 1953, and subsequently the British SAS have never raised another 'C' Squadron within 22 SAS. The Rhodesian SAS disbanded in December 1980 after the country became Zimbabwe. (See SAS Rhodesia by Fourie, C., & Pittaway, J., published Dandy Agencies, Durban, South Africa, 2003.)

These girls are being mean?

I'm all for standing out and being different then everyone else.
These girls or the 'cool girls' who have all the clothes, boys, make-up, beauty and figure etc.
They all kept giving me mucky looks and what not a started calling me 'mono-brow' 'ugly duckling' I ignored them.
They kept being like this on msn and myspace etc.
So I went up to them face to face and said 'sorry do you have a problem?'
and they just laughed and walked away and kept giving me the mucky looks.
I wore a hippie head band to be different from the dead straight hair etc and they kept calling me 'indie wannabe' and 'hippie'
They do this all the time and take the mik out of me because I listen to david bowie and joy division and most indie bands and I wear stuff people wouldn't and do things that people wouldn't.
I just need some advice thanks.

Being it's the Silver Anniversary of the event it should be something spectacular that will trump all PPV's in recent years. I've seen and heard many theories about what will happen at this years event, and given the way things are going it could be good or bad. Thus far it's been inclined to have:

The Money in the Bank Match

The Undertaker may face Shawn Michaels, or he may face Vladimir Kozlov.

So far the storyline surrounding Orton, The Legacy and Triple H hasn't been too bad, I dare say it's actually been interesting. However some people are complaining about once again seeing these two go up against one another. Didn't Orton face Triple H at Wrestlemania last year?

The same can be said about John Cena and Edge once again fighting, especially after their long feud this past couple years.

Chris Jericho's match could be average or great depending on who he goes up against. If he faces Stone Cold then he'd be given a much louder pop for fighting a recently inducted Hall of Famer. If he faces Hulk Hogan I would skip the match, the same goes for Jerry Lawler.

If the Undertaker faces Kozlov I won't even bother watching it. If he faces Shawn Michaels however I will be glued to my screen.

Steve Reich 'Electric Counterpoint' inspired playing.

Just something I came up with whilst fooling around that sounds vaguely like Pat Metheny's playing on Reich's 'Electric Counterpoint'. Using a G&L ASAT Special, Line 6 Echo Park for delay and a Cornford Harlequin amp. Reich was a huge influence on many of the 'math rock' bands around especially Foals, Battles, Don Caballero etc. Hope you enjoy the clip - the tone of the guitar comes through a lot better since I used a digital camera to record and not the isight camera on my macbook.

People think we're teen parents.?

Just wondering, how would you all deal with this? Me and my girlfriend are 25 and 26 years old. We have been together many years, and as athiests we have decided not to get married, unless maybe it is from a Shaman or something. We both just feel it is disrespectful for us to get married in a church. Anyway, we have a child together (newborn), and we both look very young for our age. I smoked up until about 6 months ago, and I would still get carded everywhere I went. In fact, people often thought my ID was fake when I was purchasing cigarettes or alcohol. Anyway, she has the exact same problem. If we go out to the wine bar together, we get carded every single time. People say we both look about 17 years old. So, I have a very good job, and she is basically a stay at home mom right now, but we are both educated and she also had a very good job. I dropped $1,200 for us to head to a very fancy resort in Sedona for Valentines weekend. I work in a very casual environment (programmer), and I do not have any dress slacks and shirts. We went to Macys tonight so I could get some shoes, slacks, and shirts. We walked around the store for a about 45 minutes without a single salesperson approaching us. After 45 minutes or so I asked a salesperson for some assistance finding black pants with no pinstripes. He then said "we are in a rather expensive section, follow me." I followed him and he took me to the area where pants are $20 on sale. I didn't say anything. After finally finding everything I needed I went to the checkout. The guy at checkout gave me a really great discount (which was awesome), because he had a kid at 17, and he knows what it is like to be a teen parent. When we go out with our kid we get really terrible looks, and I see people talking. We live in a upper-middle class white/republican area of Phoenix. It's really bothering me the way we're being treated. How would you all handle this?

P.S.: We are both 1/2 Mexican as well, with me being a little darker. I have dealt with salespeople following me around stores until I was about 18, but that has been years. I do not think this is discrimination though. I really just think we're looked down upon, even though the fact is that we probably have a lot more financial stability than the salespeople at Macys.
Tonight I was wearing a collared Calvin Klein dress shirt with a well-fitted pair of jeans. Now, I typically do not dress like this because I like to dress casual, and I'm not going to change that for anyone. I'm from Portland, OR where people are far more interested in who you are rather than what you have. Substance over style, that sort of thing. People still wear flannel up there, but the personalities and conversations are so much better than here.

Anyway, I really hope it's not due to the fact that we're Mexicans, because I have never really felt that type of discrimination before. Then again, there's a lot more of that discrimination here in Phoenix than there was back in Portland, so it is a real possibility.

Also, we were carded when we went to see the movie "The Strangers" at the mall. It was the "scary" movie with Liv Tyler... Rated R : )
Hm, guess I will just have to upgrade my clothing, even though I just said I would never. I never have dressed in baggy pants, or Hollister, or anything. I often wear shirts with Ghandi quotes though, so I assume those will have to be lazing around the house clothes now. Thank you for all the answers everyone!

Alright, man this is last edit. I just want to say that I do NOT think any parent should be treated like this unless they are a terrible parent. I am not saying that I shouldn't be treated this way, but teen parents should. Listen, we all have our own situations and I respect that. I have a nephew who had a kid at 17, and he's the best father I've ever seen. My girlfriends cousin had a baby at 14 (wow), and she went on to graduate law school at UCLA. So no, I don't think anyone should be treated this way, and it's just sad that so many in our society are so quick to judge.

What's The Next Step?

I've been playing guitar for year and Ive basically gotten rhythm down. I can play a lot of Metallica/Pantera/Slayer rhythm no problem but its lead where I'm stuck. I can play a lot of slower ballad-like solos (Fade to Back etc.) but I have yet to obtain the ability to shred. Whats next? Do hand exercises help?
